People are getting further away from reality. More and more people are living under one roof, but choose a different way to communicate: by digital devices, smartphones, tablets, computers, etc.

As architects, the team try to design a house that connects, communicates. With that in mind, the designers want to pull the way people connect and communicate back to reality, easily and happily through careful planning. With Cipinang house, we connect people to people, people to nature and, each people to his/ her own self by sewing together areas into a single, seamless environment allows the free flow of air, light, and circulation as well as interaction.

The house designed to attend a young couple that desired a house with easy maintenance which they could often invite friends and family.

The distribution of the program is the main virtue of the project, articulating wide and airy spaces. In the second floor, there are the intimate areas, family area, children bedroom and master bedroom, working area and pantry. Downstairs, there are no divisions between double height living, dining and kitchen, Zen garden, and Japanese inspired raised platform with tatami seating, which brings to the project an open concept and connects people from areas of coexistence. The union of the environments also ensures good natural lighting and cross ventilation, essential for the warmth and comfort of the construction.

Upon entry, there is a sudden sense of compression and expansion as the visitor is propelled into the home’s center and see a glimpse of Zen garden. This dramatic gesture of arrival is further amplified by the compact foyer space that abruptly breaks free to uncover  a soaring Zen garden and Japanese raised platform (tatami) with sunlit beams. The architect removed  redundant walls to open the floor  plan and create an expansive entertaining room.  This large-scale central  space combines the indoor Zen garden, gathering space, living and dining rooms as well as the kitchen.

Modern furnishings with clean lines and wood and white colors create an illusion of lightness to complement the open room.  The elements of nature and lighting were introduced into the interior space to emphasize the interaction and connection between spaces.
